kew gardens visit

this was the focus week visit to kew gardens.i havnt been to kew gardens since primary school and the thing that reall stood out for me was the treetop walkway. as an idea it is great to get up to canopy level and enjoy being amongst the trees and it provides gret views over kew. aestheticlly the design is very sensitive to the area, particularly the steel support structures which are shaped like, and have rusted to the colour of the trees that they stand amongst.
we were also able to meet one of the managers for the composting that takes place on site, and this was very interesdting and beneficial to out management module.

old school play

one of my housemates brought his old box of lego from back home, which provided a chance for some nostalgic play.a vast proportion of my play as a child was with lego, and its appeal does not seem to dissipate with age.

primrose hill

this is a poor photograph taken from the top of primrose hill, north london. it is a great vantage point over the whole of the city and helps grasp the scale of the city, which is hard to do at ground level.

birmingham

was only in birmingham for a few hours, but saw the selfridges building. cant decide whether i like it or not. it reminds me of those executive toys which are made of pins in which forms are created as an imprint...that might be a good thing?

took this photo of fairfield in fog on the way to work. the photo allows you to see further into the distance than my eyes actually could at the time

piper's models

worked for pipers models for a month, mainly working on the above model for a proposed waterfront front development in bahrain. working for pipers was really good and i learnt a lot of techniques which i want to apply to my work this year.

natural history musem

went to the natural history museum for the first time in about 15years and its still as good as it was when i was young....

watch this space

this was the watch this space installation at the national theatre.it was a really playful idea and was really popular...especially with children.

holiday

went to rock werchter festival in belgium, then to germany, switzerland, italy and then to bennicassim festival in spain.here are some photos:

swimming in lake titisee in the black forest, germany

this was the surfing spot in the english garden park in munich, and was really impressive.a fantastic resource to have within a city.

nice piece of landscape architecture

me and harry went to the german architecture museum in frankfurt, where they had a massive room of lego. this was a resource for children to learn and have fun with architecture, but it was also great for adults.we played with the lego for at least an hour, and as you can see harry got all conceptual.
