Barnes Wetlands

Barnes Wetlands is a part of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust which was founded in 1946 by the naturalist and artist, Sir Peter Scott. It is located in south west london by the river thames. It is a 43 hectare site and has won several awards and is a classified Site of Special Scientific Interest. It attracts more than 180 different bird species each year, supports a breeding colony of endangered water voles, nine species of bat, over 400 species of moth and butterfly and more than half of all UK dragonfly and damselfly species. It was an amazing place to visit as it is so large and yet so close to central london and is a green haven surrounded by a built environment......well worth a visit.
